Castle at Sea has three floors of living space filled with old world charm and with many antiques. The exterior ''friendship stairs'' lead to the welcoming front entry, complete with a nautical mural. To the left of the entry is the formal living room with wing back chairs, a love seat, and a working fireplace. At the far end of the living room one walks through the wet bar, and into the large formal dining room, complete with fireplace. At the back of the dining room are more wing back chairs as well as antique wicker furniture. This seating area is situated around the french doors which lead to the patio. This is a wonderful airy place for enjoying morning coffee, or an end of the day glass of wine! Although very much a part of the dining room, this area has the feel of a porch. From this area you can enjoy the delightful sound of the noon and 6pm church bells. The eat-in country kitchen opens directly to the patio, which has a gas grill and outdoor furnishings. The kitchen has bead board wainscoating, an electric range with oven, old fashioned metal sink, Bosch dishwasher, & microwave. The ''Keeping Room''(familyroom) is adjacent to the kitchen and has A/C, cable TV, DVD,stereo, and a huge old fashioned hearth where, historically, the food preparation in this home would have taken place. The 1st floor is completed with a lovely bathroom which has an oversized shower, perfect for washing the sand off at the end of a beach day! Up the winding stairs to the second floor one finds 3 of the bedrooms: the master bedroom has a king size four poster bed, a dressing room, bathroom, A/C, fireplace, cable TV, and VCR; the ''middle bedroom'' has a full size canopy bed and fireplace (the only bdrm w/o its own A/C); the ''back bedroom'' has twin canopy beds and A/C. The ''back bedroom'' connects with the ''middle bedroom''. The two rooms share A/C and can be used as a suite, or can be completely separated with the ''back bedroom'' accessed by its own staircase that exits in the kitchen. The second floor hall bathroom has a wonderful oversized claw foot soaking tub...a perfect way for bath lovers to end the day! The 3rd floor has 2 more bedrooms, each with A/C and distant glimpses of the harbor. The bedroom at the top of the stairs to the left, has a full size bed and sky light. The bedroom to the right has twin beds. ***All 5 bedrooms have their own fans.*** The street level basement can be accessed from either inside the house through the ''keeping room'', or from the outside sidewalk level doors at the base of the front steps. The basement houses the Maytag washer & dryer, and is the perfect place to put bikes, strollers, etc. The beach chairs & umbrella are kept here. The outside access/door to this area is conveniently located next to the driveway, making it easy to load & unload beach things. Over the years we have shared our home with many guests. Some families return yearly, and we are often told of their pleasure with Castle at Sea, and how they like to consider it their ''home away from home''. A 2005 guest wrote to us, ''There is nothing that I could add to Castle at Sea to make it better. It's already perfect!''
